The Egyptian Basra game has been enhanced with improved randomness and resolved issues, making it even better than before.
Egyptian Basra, also known as "Al-Komi" or "Ash El Walad," is a highly popular card game in Egypt. The rules are quite simple:
- At the beginning of the game, one of the two players deals four cards to each player, including the ground.
- Players take turns discarding one card to the ground until they run out of cards. Then, the dealer deals another round of four cards each, excluding the ground.
- The objective is for players to collect as many cards from the ground as possible. Once both players have played all their cards and there are no more cards for the dealing player to deal, the piles gathered by each player throughout the game are counted. The player with the most cards scores points, while a draw results in no points awarded.
- The cards that can be matched on the ground depend on their values. Players can gather cards with the same number or cards that add up to the same number they are playing (note that a card cannot be used twice in different sum groups). Kings and queens only match with other kings and queens, while jacks capture all the cards on the ground. In a rare case, a jack can be matched with a single jack on the ground to form a special "jack basra."
- A 7-diamond card can be played as any card and will be scored as a basra if possible; otherwise, it acts as a regular jack.
- If a 7-diamond card is on the ground, it can be matched with any other card but is most frequently paired as a basra since it is usually the only card available.
- A basra is a combination of cards on the ground that scores extra points at the end of the game. To achieve a basra, a player must match all the cards on the ground with a single card in a feasible manner. However, jacks are not counted as part of a basra unless they match with another jack on the ground when there are no other cards present. In that case, the jack gathers all the cards.
- The first player to reach the required total number of points wins the game. If both players reach that number simultaneously resulting in a draw, they continue playing full games until one player has a higher score than the other.
